Who Are We?

The purpose of 100 Youth Who Care CBRM is to show that the willingness to help someone in need can come from anyone, regardless of age. 100 Youth Who Care is looking to inspire the next generation community leaders in the Cape Breton Regional Municipality by creating a forum to help local charaties.

100 Youth Who Care CBRM is spearheaded by 100 Women Who Care CBRM. The Core Team consists of 10 Adults and currently 7 Core Youth Members. We are currently open to volunteers to help with planning and meetings as well.

How Does It Work?

Upon registration members are required to commit to attending four meetings a year. The meets will run between 45 mins and an hour. At every meeting each member will donate $10, in bills only. Before every meeting members are asked to nominate a local charity or non-profit. Three nominations are randomly selected prior to each the meeting. During the meeting a representative from each of the three randomly selected charities are asked to give a five minute presentation on their mission and how the funds would be allocated. Following the presentations an anonymous vote will be held and the charity with the most votes will be awarded the donation.

Why It Is Important?
Registration is open to any school age up to and including 18. 100 Youth Who Care CBRM will demonstate to youth of all ages, backgrounds and demographics the importance of giving back to their community. Participation in the meetings will teach members the importance of a democratic approach to collective decision making, while making new friends.
